Ive just watched the Gadget Show and its really made me think about blogging. The presenters were doing Facebook vs. Twitter, one presenter had a facebook profile and asked all her 'friends' to meet at a certain location for a dance off and the second presenter had a Twitter blog and did the same to his 'followers'. Twitter won by a mile with a lot more people turning up at the location. This has made me see a positive social element to blogging, they also gave a little info on Twitter and how Steven Fry and Phillip Scofield are big users of Twitter. I like the thought of blogging to spark debate and intelligent conversations that I may not be able to have (with as much input) in my every day life. I feel I may of come across a little cynical in my response to Haylee's last post, i did not mean to sound so agasint blogging. I actually think bloggging can be good socially and especially good for those who need debate and creativity to boost their professional lives.

I may create a Twitter account, has anybody else got one?

Hi Steph,

You know, Twitter is one of the few web 2.0 applications that I've never got into? Perhaps, as I've just been saying in Haylee's post, I like (too many) words too much. :|

I keep meaning to get into it...to see what the lure is but it just doesn't grab me. I'm not that social a creature anyway.

I am aware, however, of its massive popularity in recent months and the celebs who've been having 'Twitter Wars' (I believe Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears were battling to be the first with 1 million followers. Ego-tastic or cunning strategic publicity vehicle? I think probably both. Heh.

I agree i think it is both, i feel using it as i publicity vehicle can be a good thing, but people that do it for Egotistical reasons annoys me. It not just celebrities i guess who join these things to boost their ego ( dont get me wrong i feel those who use these things to boost their self esteem is differnt). But using it for the 'big i am', i think these people should just get over themselves. (excuse my little rant)

I like the fact Twitter can be social in the way that you can debate and talk about issues from silly little things to Global issues. However, i feel i am social person, but only to those i know and like. I dont mind talking to people i dont know about things that are not personal to me, however i cant get around people that talk to strangers for the first time about their personal lives in depth, it just puzzles me, but i guess thats just me.

I haven't joined Twitter yet, i'm still deciding .... :)
